A part of FreeWheel, our buy-side bidder solutions help advertisers and buyers transact with the programmatic ecosystem. Our core offerings – Bidder-as-a-Service™ (BaaS) and the Beeswax DSP – provide clients with agility, custom optimizations, and extensible APIs. We are looking for a Senior Manager of Machine Learning with an in-depth working knowledge of the latest in Machine Learning/Data Science technologies and cloud platforms to join our Optimization and Machine Learning team, which has three defining pillars: machine learning, software engineering, and machine learning operations (MLOps). In this role you’ll work on a wide range of computational challenges such as: allocation, audience forecasting, demand forecasting, traffic analysis, campaign performance optimization, and more. We practice an effective data science process that recognizes the uncertainty in explorations for ML solutions but also emphasizes an agile software engineering workflow. We use the most popular tools in the Python data science ecosystem and embrace innovation. Job Description Core Responsibilities Leads research, analyzes and evaluates changes in high profile, revenue-impacting programs that use machine learning as essential components and defines current and future departmental objectives. Oversees the monitoring and evaluation of competitive applications and products. Implements and supervises design activities across platforms, teams and third parties. Serves as primary point of contact and liaison between research and other teams, including other divisions. Monitors and tracks project progress and reports findings to leadership team. Manages cross-project communications. Manages and coordinates the initial development and designs specifications, technical requirements, algorithms and frameworks of custom machine learning based designs for future products and applications. Guides business, marketing and product management units on latest cutting-edge technical capabilities into business applications and solutions. Ensures the continuous improvement of processes and standards. Recruits, builds and nurtures high performance teams. Evaluates solutions presented to the Company by various partners and vendors. Develops and manages case studies, testing and reporting. Provides leadership and direction to staff by setting goals, objectives, performance criteria and departmental standards. Ensures researchers keep current with developments within their area of expertise. Assists leadership team with forecasting project estimates, resource needs and timelines. Manages department and project budget, as well as the schedules of product releases and project timetables. Presents concepts and technical information in common terms to end user(s). Submit invention disclosures and pursue patent applications to produce company IP from research and technology developments that result from team projects. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary. Build and lead a machine learning team to success. Design the team’s technical roadmap, execute complex ML-driven projects and deliver business value. Mentor team members, drive for the team’s technical excellence, and review the team’s code. Hands-on work improving and supporting ML infrastructure, coding when necessary. Write technical documents and provide feedback on technical design reviews. Work with the product and engineering teams, design and build complete solutions to power customer-driven products. Manage deliverables to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets. Promote machine learning adoption in the organisation. Implement and test the latest research works and advise on strategic direction. Submit invention disclosures and pursue patent applications to produce company IP from research and technology developments that result from team projects. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required competencies: Solid knowledge of machine learning, optimization, and software engineering. 5+ years’ experience of hands-on machine learning engineering, and 2+ years’ experience in technical project leadership. Proficiency in Python and SQL, and ML ecosystem in Python. Good understanding of engineering best practices, agile, data science process, etc. Expert at translating business needs into technical objectives, and at collaboration and communication with cross functional teams. Preferred competencies: 8+ years’ hands-on and 3+ years’ people management experience. Practical experience with MLOps tools like model server, feature store, and a/b testing system. Practical experience in distributed computing frameworks, especially Apache Spark and distributed TensorFlow. Practical experience with mathematical programming and optimization. Relevant Work Experience 7-10 Years Salary: National Pay Range: $127,621.20 USD-$299,112.20 USD Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
